Francis Bailey was living in Henry County, GA in the 1820's. Sometime during the 1840's, he and his family moved to Tallapoosa Co., AL and settled near Daviston. The 1850 Tallapoosa Slave Census indicated he had four slaves. Prior to 1870, Francis and Sarah moved to Newton Co., GA along with their son-in-law, James S. Hill, daughter Nancy Bailey Hill and their children, and settled near Covington.
Taken from the "Covington Star" newspaper, 21 Apr 1891: "Mrs. Sarah Bailey, one of the oldest persons in Newton County, died at the residence of her grandson, George W. Hill, last Friday morning. She was aged 92 years, 8 months, 6 days." (Note: April 17, 1891 was on a Friday, less 92 years, 8 months and 6 days, would make her birth 11Aug 1798.)
