Notes from Ancestry.com: Josiah and Margaret were married in the home ofan Isaac Stout in Gilboa. Josiah served from 29 Dec 1861 to 18 Aug 1864 in thePennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry under the name of Joseph W. Wilson. He was discharged at Jones Landing, VA byreason of term of service. He had given his age as 24 and was born in Somerset Co., PA, and listedhis occupation as carpenter. According to the unsuccessful window's pension application papers filedby his wife from 1890 to 1902, Josiah had been involved in a drunken brawl in which a man waskilled and he was under bond to answer for murder when he enlisted under an alias. She joined himafter the war in Portsmouth, VA where he had been employed in a telegraph department and later on a"Government boat". She stayed about six months and he gaver her $150 and told her he would sendmore money to return to him after he got his pay. She returned home, but never heard from himagain. She said they had lived together in harmony and she was sure the only reason she neverheard from him again was because he was dead.
He married Mary Putman at Somerset, Pennsylvania . Mary Putman was born at Somerset, Pennsylvania 30 Nov 1792 daughter of Andrew Jr. Putman and Anna Elizabeth Lenhart .
