Jacob was a minister in the River Brethren Church and lived in YorkCounty, Pa., but moved to Ohio about 1825.
He was a machinist, senior member of the firm of Lenher and Pennel,Locomotive and Boiler Works. He built the Hugh Keys, the first engine to run west ofPhiladelphia.
He married Barbara Hollinger . Barbara Hollinger was born at 10 Jan 1766 .
