In the fall of 1839, he settled on the north sideof Decatur, Indiana, section 34, and from 1842-43, John served as theAdams County Commissioner.  He was a farmer, and died in Root Township.John and Rebecca are buried in Alpha/Valley united Brethern Cemetery.
