Peter LENHART
He was buried in the Alpha Cemetery in Adams County.
In a letter to her aunt Rebecca Brown, on May 28, 1864, Huldah stated she"had more troubles and trials than I could endure if the Lord was not onmy side", and on November 12, 1875, Mary C. Warner (daughter of Reuben)writes to Rebecca Brown that "I beleive if I had my choice I would rathertake her (Sarah Brown's) bodily suffering than to suffer in the mind asshe must to see Huldah as she is without a home. Poor Huldah it is hardto see her and think of the circumstances she is in without a place tocall home when she might have a good home fi Peter would treat her as ahusband should treat his wife". In a letter from Sarah (Warner) Browndated December 4, 1877, it stated "Huldah seems quite contented byherself if she don't get her house afire and burn up. It is what we areafraid of. Some nights she stays here, and Julia there. Her oldest boyhas gone to Kansas. Old Pete lives on the old mans place since he died.It will be sold some time and then I don't know where his children willgo." In a letter from Sarah to Rebecca dated March 11, 1880, it says"Huldah has been down for a long time. She has the liver complaint.Julia stays with her." Huldah was living with Peter in 1880, but onDecember 17, 1881, she was admitted to the Adams County Infirmary, anddied there on April 13, 1888 where she was suffering from St. Vitus Dance(Epilepsy). She is buried in the County Home Cemetery. About June,1882, she tried to run away from the "poor house" according to a letterfrom her mother.

He married Huldah Brown 25 Mar 1849 at Adams, Indiana .
