Not proven, but it's possible that Catharine was married prior to beingmarried to George Turney. It is beleived she married George Sumey, a daylaborer and resident of Addison Twp., on 27 Sep 1854. George was the sonof John and christina Sumey. Available records say that Catherine wasthe daughter of Jacob and Christiana Lenhart. This source is the FamilyRecord of John and Elizabeth Sumy and Their Descendants" by John A.Summy, Stuarts Draft, Va. Following is a letter written to Catherine during the Civil War, but itis not clear who William McVicker was: Camp Wallace Monrovia May 27, 1865 Dear aunt I Seat my Self to in fom you that I am well at present hopeingthes few lines may find you the Same. I recievd you kind letter But Ineglected to right. I thank you for sending that Sugar cake. Excuse mefor not writeing. I will do beter the next time. the boys is all harty.I have not been sick since I left home. I think the war will be overthis Summer. tell Jacob to write to me So I know how they are getingalong. tell Jacob not to work to hard nor kiss the girls to much. tellhim to be a good boy and let the girls a lone like I do. the girls isScarce here. tell Will not to get married till I come back and I willget a wife to for I would give five dollars if I could get to see a pretygirl. the wether is warm here now. the wheat is all out in head and thecorne looks fine. excuse me for not writing more for I am getting verylazy.
