Cornelius' parents died when he was 4 years old. When he was 6, he wentto live with Peter Miller and family. They resided on a farm nearMeyersdale, PA. The farm was known as "Will Fike Farm" in SummitTownship and was located at the intersection of "Uhensrick and Shaw MineRoad. Cornelius was a blacksmith by trade, learning at an early age by workingin the shop of Isaac Marteeny, Berkleys' Mills, PA. Later, he workedwith Squire Gillian C. Luit and also, later, conducted a smithy businessof his own that stood on land owned by Elder C. P. Clark, near theFlaugherty bridge. He was a member of the German Baptist Brethern Church for nearly 50years. He died at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 7 days. (PLACE INFORMATION ON SOURCE HERE TOO)
