Adam's obituary read: The last surviving hero of the conflict known as the War of 1812 inSomerset Co., Adam Snyder died at his residence on Tuesday last in his93rd year...Mr. Snyder was of the typical pioneers of his time, hardy andself-reliant. At the age of eighteen he enlisted in one of the twocompanies that were sent from Somerset Co., to take part in the secondwar between the U.S. and England. In the year 1815 he we ElizabethWeimer and they reared a family of 10 children. Phoebe (Nicholson),Simon, John, Sarah (Linerman), Polly (Pritts), Susan (Sterner), Solomon,Jonas Lizzie (Heinbaugh), Zachariah. With grandchildren and greatgrandchildren his descendants number over 100. With 14 great-greatgrandchildren, posterity which few men live to attain. For 46 years hewas a member of the evangelical, being the first member of the UnionChapel Congregation in Milford Twp. and died in the faith words attain.He contributed much to the church....His contribution to the EvangelicalChurch in Rockwood in 1877 was the largest amount given by any individualand a few years later donated to the congregation a comfortable dwellingfor a parsonage. 1793 to 1885.
