He was born in Morgan county, West Virginia, March 16, 1842. He married Miss Mary W. Tate of Fulton county, who still survives with six children. His wife, Mrs. Grace Henline Slayman, died a number of years ago. Slayman was born in Fulton County, son of Samuel and Mary Tate Slayman, and was a brother of the late Mrs. Ernest L. Johnson, of Berkeley Springs, W. Va. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edna Scott, Newburgh, and Mrs. R. S. Maisal, Glenelg, Md.; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and one foster granddaughter. Services were conducted Wednesday, November 17, at the Grove Funeral Home in Hancock by the Rev. Thomas Jackson of Berkeley Springs, W. Va. Interment was in the Warfordsburg Presbyterian Cemetery. She was born in Warfordsburg, Pa., August 3, 1882, the daughter of the late James Slayman and Mary Tote Slayman. She was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church and of the Woman's Club. Her husband, Ernest L. Johnson, passed away in 1941. She is survived by two sons, Lewis E. (Ned) Johnson of Fairmont, and J. William Johnson of Palm Beach, Fla.; one brother, James Slayman of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today, October 29, 2:00 p.m. at the Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Louis L. Emerick officiating. Interment will be in Greenway Cemetery.
