Carlton J. Turner, 49, of 114 West Wilson Blvd., died on Sunday evening
at National Institute of Health, Bethesda. He had been ill for the past
three years and critical for the past three months. He was born in
Hagerstown and was a son of Mrs. Celia Dailey Turner, Hagerstown, and the
late Wilmer Turner. He was a member of St. Andrew Methodist Church, South
End Fire Company, and had served in the Army during World War II. A
member of Clear Spring American Legion Post No. 222. He was a heavy
equipment operator for Bester and Long, Inc. for the past 20 years.
Besides his mother he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vera Faith Turner;
son, Nelson A. Turner, Cedar Lawn; foster daughter, Mrs. Sharon Cooper,
Hagerstown; brothers, Wilmer, Norman, Buster, Irvin and Luther Turner all
of Hagerstown; Carl Turner, Los Angeles, Calif.; sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth
Snapp, Cobb Island, Md., Mrs. Venvenda McClay and Mrs. Doris Nichlos,
both of Hagerstown; four grandchildren. Services will be at Minnich
Funeral Home on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. J. E. Ewald
officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring. Family
will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9. The
casket will not be open. Military honors will be conducted by the Clear
Spring American Legion at the cemetery.

at the Washington County Hospital. Born near Clear Spring, she was the
daughter of the late Clarles and Cora Sword Faith. She was a member of
St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. She had previously been employed at
the Hagerstown Rubber Co. and for the past seven years at the Kings
Department Store. She is survived by her husband, John J. Bowers Sr.; one
son, Nelson A. Turner of Hagerstown; one stepson, John J. Bowers Jr. of
Hagerstown; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Betty Knepper of Martinsburg, W.Va.;
one foster daughter, Mrs. Sharon Cooper of Bluefield, W.Va.; three
brothers, Adrian C. Faith, John W. Faith, and Earl J. Faith all of Clear
Spring; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Ashton of Martinsburg, Mrs. Marie
Schelle of Clear Spring and Mrs. Geneva Morrow of Kearneysville; and five
grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and three foster grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd.,
Thursday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Terry L. King and Rev. A. Frederick Walz will
officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Clear Spring. The
family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9.
