Notes:
BIOGRAPHY (as dictated by his sons, Don & John, Septe 1997): When Dio married, he was in insurance and real estate business; then sold it. Then he carried the mail on a buggy or sled, depending on the weather. Mail delivery was in the 1920's in Mayport. On Dec 5, 1921, he moved his family to Hawthorn, after buying the homestead from Daniel Sterner. It was known as the Sloan Farm and was planted all in wheat. The harvest was great and Dio almost made as much as what he paid for the farm. He was a Farmer of 116 acres on their homestead and 100 acres at Paradise, which was 5-6 miles away. He was a Farmer until he died. He started a Milk and Dairy business in 1927 and sold to the Atto Milk Factory.
