Moore, 71, of New Freeport, veteran oil and gas field worker, was killedat 3:20 p.m. yesterday, Jan. 29, 1947.
Moore was crushed about the upper part of the body when he was pulled
into the fast-moving bull wheel as the tools were being pulled out of
the well.

Mr. Moore was one of the most widely known residents of western Greene
County and had been employed in the oil and gas fields of Greene County
and the panhandle district of West Virginia for the past 47 years. He
was employed for 22 years by the South Penn Oil Company and for the past
25 years had been field foreman for the Dunn-Mar Oil and Gas Company,
entering that company's employ in 1922.

A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was born March 31, 1875, in
Aleppo Township, a son of John and Mariah Tedrow Moore, deceased. His
first wife, Rosetta Davis Moore, died in 1921. To this union were born
the following children: Grace, Harold, and Lutie, deceased; Mona, wife
of John Brant, of New Freeport, Harry, of New Freeport, and Walter, at
home.

In 1922, he married Marinda L. Brant, who survives with the following
step-children: Mrs. C.H. Rader, of Moundsville, W.Va.; Mrs. C.W. Locke,
of Rochester, Pa.; Mrs. Sadie Westfall, John and Ronald Brant, all of
New Freeport. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Bane, of Cameron,
W.Va.; six half-brothers: John Moore, in Illinois; Emmett Moore, of
Smithfield, W.Va.; Charles Moore, in Michigan; Ab Moore, of Hundred,
W.Va.; Jeptha and West Moore, of Washington, Pa.; and three
half-sisters: Mrs. Mary Alexander, in Michigan; Mrs. Blanche Burnie, in
Ohio, and Mrs. Maggie Strosnider, of Wheeling, W.Va. There are a number
of grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

Mr. Moore was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Waynesburg.
Funeral arrangements had not been completed last night. Samuel P. Weaver
is the funeral director.
