       My note (Michael J. Godshalk), Ed has a copy of the Umstead family bible.  He sent me copies of several pages, which is were I've made additions to my file.  Ed lists an earlier birth date than I found for Nathan UMSTEAD.
       I (Ed Sager) don't have any information on Nathan's parent's birthdates so I can't validate those dates.  However, I believe the scanned documents I sent you were written by Nathan himself.  The bible was printed in 1824, 6 years prior to their marriage, and there is a signature of Nathan Umstead inside the front cover.  The handwritting of the signature is similar to handwritting of the entries in the bible. Assuming he penned the information, I would hope he has his own birthday correctly recorded.  Also, your birthdates imply that 16 year old Nathan married 19 year old Elizabeth.  I suppose that 16 was an adult in those days but it does not seem as likely as if Nathan were 31.
