Jonas was a laborer who had 14 children and lived in Royersford. He was also a little bit of a con man. When his father Abraham died his will left everything equally to his wife and children. The children decided to allow the proceeds from their shares to be used to support their mother as long as she lived. Jonas sold his share of the estate payable on the death of his mother. Then he sold it a second time. When his mother died two people claimed his share. There is a thick file in the Montgomery County archives to decide who was to get Jonas's share. I think it amounted to about $300.
When I was researching the Moyers I went to the Mingo Cemetery. I saw some Moyer graves that had flowers on them. So I left a notes with my address and phone number on them. Months later I got a phone call from a great grand daughter of Jonas. We met and still correspond.
