Greetings--Our Stull family file at the Meyersdale Public Library genealogy
room contains two pieces of paper. One is the following obit for Mrs.
Elizabeth Stull:
"Oldest Woman in Somerset County Dies"
"Mrs. Elizabeth Stull, aged 99, believed to have been the oldest resident of
Somerset County, died last Friday afternoon in the Somerset County Hospital,
following an illness of several months of diseases incident to old age. She
would have been 100 years old on October 20 next.

"Her husband, John Stull, passed away 70 years ago at his home in
Shanksville, following a brief illness of blood poisoning, which was caused
by an infection of the hand, resulting from an injury while he was shoeing a
horse.

"Mrs. Stull made her home in the vicinity of Shanksville until seven years
ago, when she went to Somerset to live. Despite her age she possessed a keen
mind and was able to be about until the last few weeks.

"Surviving are a son, Edmund Stull, aged 82, of Shanksville; a sister, Mrs.
William Carver, of Roxbur; and a nephew, Jesse Stull, living near Shanksville.

"Her body was prepared for burial by J. N. Johnson & Son, of Berlin, and was
removed to the home of her nephew, where funeral services were conducted
Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, followed by interment in the Stull Cemetery,
near Roxbury."
Meyersdale Republican, 27 April 1933

The other sheet is a family chart diagramming Adam Stull>George Stull>William

Landis, wife of Ananias, is also entered in the chart. Some names have birth

be happy to provide the rest of the information to anyone interested in this

Adam Stull
Adam Stull, who removed from Lancaster county, settled where Berlin now is at a very early date. At that time people in this county went to Hagarstown --seventy-five miles-- for flour. Mr. Stull was a blacksmith, and worked at his trade in Berlin. He died at the age of eighty-five. His children were George, John, Catharine and Susan. George, who was born near Berlin, was also a blacksmith; he settled in Stony Creek township in 1833, and followed his trade until his death. He married Mary Landis, and was the father of six children. His son Joseph served as first lieutenant of Co. H, 171st regt. Penn. Vols.; enlisted in October, 1862; discharged in September, 1863. He kept hotel at Roxbury three years, at Berlin two years, and has been in the same business in Shanksville since 1861. Mr. Stull has been township constable since 1864.
