Christian Cramer. A note from Mazie Emanuel says he was the heir to Adam's farm, however, a bond (Somerset Co. deed 8-462, 9 Aug, 1817) and a deed (Somerset Co. 8-470, 9 Aug., 1817) appear to will the farm to Adam Cramer, Jr. with the proviso that Adam, Jr. provide for Adam, Sr. and Hannah after their
retirement. Both deeds were recorded in March 1820, after Adam Senior's death. We (OLF) photographed his marker in the Cramer-King Cem., May, 1995. This reads: "Christian Cramer Born Dec. 16, 1779, Died Oct 10, 1853, Aged 72 Yrs 9 mos and 15 days." The Marker is original. A quit-claim deed (Somerset Co. 28-270) mentions his widow, Mary E. Cramer and most of his children and their spouses: "Henry P.W. Cramer; Hanna Cramer, deceased, married to Peter Whipkey; Rebecca Cramer, deceased(?), married to David Whipkey; Martha Cramer, married to James White; Phoebe Cramer, married to Samuel Bittner; Elisabeth Cramer; Barbara Cramer, married to Samuel A. Mesena; and Catherine Cramer, married to Daniel Burkholder." Also mentioned is Josiah Miller, 'Agency of Phoebe Miller', and guardian of Rebecca Miller. Josiah is presumably a second(?) husband of Phoebe. Not mentioned in the deed is Samuel Cramer, or Mary Cramer, both of whom married, and Samuel is supposed to have left issue. Deed 28-270 is a quit claim for all payments on Christian's estate to be payable at his death, but mentioned an additional settlement to be made at the death of his widow. Although Rebecca is mentioned as deceased in Deed 28-270, she (Rebeka Misacher) and Martha (White), Elisabeth Cramer, and Susan Bumgard, Daughter of Hannah Cramer, all signed a power of attorney (Somerset Co. deed 29-378, 28 Jan., 1858) to obtain their inheritance after the death of Mary E. Cramer. They signed this POA in Marshall Co., Virginia.
