"08/09/1928 - Edward L. PLETCHER, of Dayton, Ohio, died Saturday morning a t the Private Hospital Lock Haven after a long illness with a complicatio n of heart and kidney disease. He had been a patient in the hospital for the past five weeks. Mr. PLETCHER was about 60 years of age and was bor n at Howard. He had resided at Dayton for many years holding for many ye ars a responsible position with the National Cash Register Company. For the past few years, however, he has served as city clerk of Dayton. He w as a member of the Methodist church and of the Masonic bodies at Dayton. He had no immediate relatives. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Merrill Williams Tuesday morning at the home of Councilman B. F. PLETC HER of Lock Haven. Burial in the Schenck Cemetery, Howard. Members of the Masonic order had charge of the funeral." 04/28/1899 - Daniel S. PLETCHER who died at his home in Flemington Sat. w as a native of this county. He was born near Howard, July 18, 1836 and h is early childhood was spent near that place. In 1862 he became interest ed in the woolen factory at Mill Hall and afterwards secured an interest in the woolen factory on Spring Creek, Centre Co. He remained in that bu siness until the close of the war, when he taught school for several year s near Howard. Afterwards he moved to his father's farm near Howard and in 1878 removed to his father-in-laws farm near Flemington. In 1890 he t ook possession of the property he lately occupied in Flemington. Member Mennonite Church, his father having been a minister in that church. He i s survived by wife and children: Prof Benjamin F of the faculty of Lock Haven Normal, Miss Nancy W at home, and George W. of Lamar, brother and s ister Joseph of Blanchard, Mrs. Anna PETERS and Sarah PLETCHER of Howard and Mrs. Leah WETZLER of Milesburg. In 1894 he suffered a slight stroke of paralysis and has not enjoyed good health since. Sat evening he went to the stable for some wood and later Mrs. PLETCHER went out and found hi m dead. Funeral was held Tuesday afternoon.
Centre County,Pennsylvania 1880 Obits "03/01/1907 - Friday - Miss Sarah PLETCHER died at her home one half mile north west of Howard, on Friday, Feb 15, 1907 of acute indigestion. Dece ased was 66 years 7 months and 2 days old. She was born and raised near Howard and spent her entire life in the old homestead caring for her moth er until her death a number of years ago. Since that time she has kept h ouse for her brother Emanuel PLETCHER who was left a widower with one chi ld and went back to the old home; to which place three other brothers and one sister returned to spend their declining years, and unto them all Mi ss PLETCHER gave her gentlest and most untiring ministration. Her death was the fifth of the family to occur in the old home in a period of thirt y years. Only one brother, Joseph PLETCHER, of Blanchard, and one sister , Mrs. Lou WETZLER, of Milesburg, survive. Miss PLETCHER was the last su rviving member of the Mennonite Church, located near her old home and whi ch at one time consisted of a large membership. The funeral was held on Sunday, Feb 17. The services were in charge of Rev. Aller, of the Method ist Church, interment in the Schencks Cemetery."
11/19/1897 - Friday - Emanuel PLETCHER died on Friday morning in Howard. He was a soldier of the late war and was 66 years 11 months and 12 days old. Burial was made in the Schenck Cemetery. He leaves one son, Edward of Brooklyn and three sisters, Miss Sarah and Mrs. Annie PETERS of Howar d, Mrs. WATZLER of Milesburg and one brother, Joseph of Eaagleville. He served under Curtin from August 1861 to August 1864.
09/03/1897 - Miss Nina PLETCHER d/o Joseph PLETCHER of Eagleville died at the home of her parents on Thursday of last week, after a short illness with typhoid fever. Deceased was only 20 years old. Her father, sister and brother were all prostrated with the same disease but they are recove ring.
He married Barbara Schenk 1821 . Barbara Schenk was born at of Howard, Center, Pennsylvania 21 Nov 1801 daughter of Frederick Schenck and Susan Bechdel .
