	Ray. W. Sturtz, 78, of McCune Avenue, Scottdale, died Friday, April 30, 1993, in Frick Hospital and Community Health Center, Mt. Pleasant. He was born March.14, 1915, in East Huntingdon Township, a son of the late Solomon and Anna Geary Sturtz.  He was a retired wood pattern maker for the former Walworth.Valve Co. in South Greensburg. He did work on the prototype valve for the world's 'first nuclear subma­rine, Nautilus. He was known throughout the area for his furni­ture craftsmanship, specializing in the restoration of fine antiques. He was a graduate of East Huntingdon Township High School, class of 1933. He was a member of the Scottdale Church of Christ, and he was a Bible School super­intendent and church choir direc­tor for over 40 years along with being a church elder emeritus. He was also the leader of the Sturtz Family Singers and was active in the local Scottdale Heritage Players and Singers, supervising set- construction. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Farmer.  He is survived by his wife, Ruth L. Sherman Sturtz with whom he celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversarj May 10, 1992. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. David (Ruthann). Bigley of Scottdale RD2 and Mrs. Rob (Rbonda) Allison of Scottdale; two sons, Ronald R. Sturtz of Roseburg, Ore., and Rodney A. Sturtz of East Point, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and ,one brother, Earl G. Sturtz of Laurelville. Friends will ' be received at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, Sunday­ from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m: and from 7 to 9 p.m. Additional view­ing will be held , in the Scottdale Church of Christ Monday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.,. the hour of funeral service, with Pastor Robert W. Chambers officiating. Inter­ment will be in Scottdale Ceme­tery. Family requests donations be made to the Scottdale Church of Christ in memory of Ray W. Sturtz. ­
