Henry Shuman PLETCHER
"07/21/1927 - Henry S. PLETCHER, a Civil War veteran and a prominent resid
ent of Howard, died at his home on Monday afternoon from dilation of the
heart, at the age of 80 years and 5 months. Mr. PLETCHER was born in How
ard Township and was a son of Michael and Susan PLETCHER. He was married
to Lyda MEESE, who survives with these children: Alice, at home; Mrs. M
abel C. IRVIN, of Long Horn, PA; Eugene, of Philadelphia; Emma R. of Howa
rd and George R of Philadelphia. These brothers also survive: David, Na
thaniel, Christian and Lynn all of near Howard. Funeral services were he
ld Wednesday afternoon; interment in the Schenck cemetery. Mr. PLETCHER
was retired from the New York Central force in 1917."

"12/24/1936 - Mrs. Eliza PLETCHER, Howard's oldest resident died at her ho
me at 9 o'clock Wednesday night, of last week following a week's illness
caused by pleurisy and a heart ailment. She was 84 years, 11 months and
8 days old at the time of her death. Mrs. PLETCHER was born one mile eas
t of Howard January 8, 1852 a daughter of George and Elizabeth WELLS MEAS
E, both now deceased, and when a young girl moved with her family to Mile
sburg on a canal boat. She was married, January 16, 1872 to H. Shuman PL
ETCHER, who died in 1927. She had been an active member of the Howard Me
thodist church for 72 years. She leaves the following children: Mrs. Emm
a CASEMAN, Sullivan County; Miss Alice PLETCHER and George PLETCHER both
of Philadelphia; Eugene of New York" Centre Co. PA 1880 newspaper obits
