David Whipkey was living in Turkeyfoot Twp, Somerset county in 1808 whenJohn Henry moved here, so I do not know just when the original JohnWhipkey moved here, the original homestead is within 20 miles ofSomerset. Our county history states that in the year 1835, John Henryand his neighbor trapped and killed 35 bear. John's estate settle 1790.
David and his family left Somerset county, moved Greene county about1847. I do not have much information on the family of David other thanto follow his son John Whipkey, who lived in Greene county, later movedto Westmoreland County, near Kecksburg, where he died at the age of 75,said to have had seven sons and three daughter. I have been able to find4 sons for sure, they are: Peter G, b: Jan 28, 1821, David G. born: Dec29, 1823, Noah, born 1840, George born: 1835.

Birth year of 1773 for David given as part of Paul E. Courtwright familyhistory.
