                   Daniel and wife Amelia are both buried in Berkey Cemetery, Windber, Somerset,
Pa.  He enrolled at Pittsburgh, Pa on 3 Sep 1864 as Private in Company K, 206th
Regiment, Pa Volunteers.  This was just 7-1/2 months after his marriage to
Amelia LEHMAN.  He was discharged 26 Jun 1865 at Richmond, Va.  At time of
enrollment he was described as 5'9", tall, dark complexion, black hair, dark
eyes and occupation a cooper.  History of the 206th Reg't given in HISTORY OF
PENNSYLVANIA VOLUNTEERS, 1861-5, Samuel P. Bates, 1869.  Daniel's pension
application papers indicated that he lived from 1865 to 1871 in Somerset Co.,
from 1871 to 1889 in Cambria Co., from 1889 to 1912 in Somerset Co.  Copy of
death certificates of Daniel and Amelia are included in "Genealogy of Heinrich
Faust" by Thelma Berky Walsmith.

                   Bur. at Berkey Cemetery, Windber, Pa.  Dtr of Joseph Lehman and Anna
Livingston; Anna was sister of Eve Livingston who md. Henry Foust, half brother
of Frederick Foust, Jr.  NOTE:  Windber. Stoyestown, Rummel, and Scalp Level
are in close proximity with each other and with Paint Twp. in the northeast part
of Sommerset Co., next to Cambria Co., Pa. Some of Scalp Level may actually be
in Cambria Co.  This was all in Somerset Co. in the early 1800's but Cambria
was divided out of Somerset Co. in about 1810.  These "bergs" are near or at
the border separating Cambria from Somerset, and Windber is the "survivor."
The delivery, by RR freight, goes to Windber.  David Shaffer's grandson,
another David, provided land for the historical museum in Windber, and the
Shaffers and Fausts (Fousts) figure prominently there.
