Frederick FAUST
In 1823 he migrated from York co. to Johntown, Pa. He was a miller; from Johnstorn he moved to what is now Foustwell, where for several years he operated the Foustwell Mills. He then moved to Westmoreland co. and finally to Indiana co., where he died. When young he was in the Revol. army; he was a Whig and a Lutheran church member. He was of German extraction. He buried first wife in Fissel cemetery, Shrewsbury Twp., York Co., Pa. First wife was: Eva SHAFFER; second wife was Mary KLINEFELTER. Frederick FAUST moved to Johnstown, Somerset Co., Pa. in 1823. As aid to determine birthplaces of children, he moved from York Co. to Johnstown, Pa. in 1823. He was a miller by trade and then moved to Foustwell in Somerset Co., operating Foustwell Mills. He then moved to Westmoreland Co. and finally to Indiana Co., all Pa., where he passed the remainder of days. He had bought farmlands in Wheatfield Twp., Indiana Co. Fred is buried "along pike towards Pittsburg, 1 mile from Armagh, along left side. On his death, his second wife appointed son-in-law James DIAS as administrator of the estate. Fred was a miller at Wakefield at 'Ninevah' at Bolivar, Pa., when he "stuck a pig," became ill, and died. Buried: one account, at Foustwell, Somerset Co., Pa.; another and more probably account, buried with second wife, Mary KLINEFELTER, in German Lutheran Cemetery in Indiana Co., Pa. Frederick was born in 1794 in York Co., Pa. His father was born in the same section of the state, and his grandfather was b. in Germany. He was a miller by trade and operated mills in York Co. and later in Somerset and Cambria Cos, Pa. He died in Indiana Co. on one of the farms he owned He was a Republican and a Lutheran.

Md. Catherine ST. CLAIR. In AF called SAINT CLAD. Their child: Polly Jane FOUST, B. 1851 in Kansas. Levi was born the 7th son of Frederick and Mark (Klinefelter) Foust, b. at Foust's Mills in Somerset Co., Pa. When a small child his parents moved to Kring's Mills, on the Stonycreek, 4 miles from Johnstown. He attended the public schools and learned the trade of miller under his father. His entire life up to within a few years of (1907) had been devoted to milling, except the 18 years during which time he followed farming, beginning in 1858 and continuing until 1976. He operated Foust's Mill on the Black Lick creek for 27 years, besides mills at other points. He owned a good farm in Indiana Co. and was successful. He was a Methodist and a Republican, later becoming affiliated with the Prohibition party. Aside from serving as supervisor he has never held public office.
