p 216  John Merkel was one of the subscribers of Peace Curch, built
1797-8 and in use until 1866.  Who was John?
(p 424)  Levi was the only child of Jacob & Mary and moved to Cumb Co
when 4 yrs old.  Levi & Susanna had 5 sons & 4 daughters, 5 were living
in 1886. (p252) Levi started the first bank in Mechanicsburg in 1859
with Jacob Mumma and others.  The write-up in the book indicates that
Levi was a well liked and successful man.
(p 255) in 1836, Levi & several others founded the Allen & E
Pennsborough Society for the Recovery of Stolen Horses & Mules and th
Detection of Thieves.
(p 269)  Levi helped organize the Beneficial Society of Shiremanstown

York from 1866-1871. His health was failing & he returned to the farm
for 3 yrs Then to Elmira, NY and taught music for 6 yrs and then returned
