Christoffel LENHART, JR
FROM KDULL: Sponsors were Hans Georg and Christina Stauch. He was a Communicant in Shippensburg Lutheran Church on May 27, 1787. OnSeptember 17, 1798, Christoffel and Peter Lenhart purchased 100 acres inUnity Township from Daniel Collins ( land was adjoining John Sloan, JohnCrawford and the heirs of David Rankin). This land was warranted toChristoffel in 1813. In 1798, he had 129 acres, and a 22' X 20' cabin inUnity Township. Christoffel resided in Unity Township in 1810 later thatyear settled in Newton Township, Muskingum County, Ohio. He purchased 80acres in what became Perry County, Ohio on August 10, 1809. This landwas later sold to his son, Jon, on March 13, 1840. In 1810, he deeded 70acres in Madison Township to his brother, John. In 1825, he purchased160 acres in Muskingum County and built a mill (this is now just outsideof White Cottage). He entered into a land agreement with Daniel Grantof Wesmoreland County, Pennsylvania on February 1, 1812. He purchasedland in Ohio on December 11, 1805, and December 10, 1805 (RTS 15-17-10,and 15-17-09 patented on February 18, 1813). He also purchased twotracts of land in Muskingum County on May 10, 1824. He is on the censusof Madison Township, Perry County, Ohio in 1819/1820 and died in NewtonTownship in June, 1848. Christoffel Jr. bought land in Madison Twp., Perry Co., Ohio in 1805 atthe Zanesville office. Christoffel's obituary was recorded in a Methodist newsletter that waspublished near White Cottage, Ohio, which described how wonderful he wasto the church. He and his family were not mentioned in his father's will.
His will was written on June 18, 1850 and probated on September 30, 1850.
Buried in Somerset Methodist Church Cemetery with wife Sarah. All of Isaacs children were born in Unity Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA.
