Notes:
                   	JACOB L. IMEL
Jacob Leonard Imel was born in Fayette County Pa, and died in Great Bend,
Kansas Nov. 11, 1915.
When he was four years of age he removed with his parents to Carroll Co. Ill., where they lived for 11 years. At the age of 15 the family again removed, this time settling in Phelps County, Neb. where he spent his early manhood. In 1901 he moved to La Junta, Colorado, and two years later came to Great Bend where he continued to reside.
He was married to Miss Vertie O. Mote, Oct. 6 1892, near the home in Phelps County, Neb. The wife and three children, Lavern, Don and Lola survive him. Two children having died in early childhood. Three brothers and three sisters are living: Silas Imel, Marysville, MO.; Samuel Imel, Connellsville, Pa.; Mrs. Margaret Worfield, Carroll County, Ill.; Mrs. Phoebe Shilling, Hays County, S. Dakota; H. M. Imel, Wellington Kansas, and Mrs. P. H. Smith, Southerland, Nebraska.
Mr. Imel spent most of his time on a farm and since coming to Great Bend, has done considerable farm work. For five years he carried the mail to and from Hoisington, while for the past two years he has worked at the flour mills in this city. It was while at his work at the Walnut Creek mill that he received the injury from which he died in the devastating tornado that swept the city on the evening of November the 10. Mr. Imel did not regain consciousness after the hospital collapsed upon him and passed away at the hospital where he had been taken.
Shortly after his marriage he with his wife united with the Methodist Church and since coming to Great Bend have been members of the church here. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
Mr. Imel was of a quiet disposition spending most of his spare time at home with his family. He was universally respected by those who knew him and well liked by his more intimate acquaintances. His untimely death is not only mourned by his family, but
by a host of friends who had come to respect and love him.	.
The funeral services were held from the Methodist church Sunday, November 14, at 2:30 p. m., conducted by Rev. C. H. Woodward, a large number of sympathizing friends being present. The Royal Neighbors of which order Mrs. Imel is a member attended in a body. Interment was made in the woodlawn cemetery.
