                   Letter to Cocalico Hist Soc in 1991 from Alice Mohler DeLana mentions
that he was "Professor of Astronomy at the Univ of Michigan 1941-1985,
an active participant in the founding of AURA (American Universities for
Research in Astronomy) and the establishment of the Kitt Peak Natl
Telescope site, and an early scholar in the field of solar spectroscopy.
At his death he was honored to have a minor planet (#2528) named for
