Singer owned two farms, different years in Westmoreland County, PA and moved to Alverton, PA where he lived for fifty years, where he retired from farming, He was blind and lived the last five years of his life with his youngest son, Charles in Scottdale, PA. He had four brothers and three sisters: David, Simon, Conrad, Bill and Emma Hixson, Margaret Fleggar, and one in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ellen Shawley was a warm loving woman.
