Jacob Edgar FAUST, DEACON
Md Fannie Berkebile on 23 Feb 1879, very active in German Reformed Church. Had eleven children, three of whom died young. Known as Deacon Jacob E. Raised Alvin G. FAUST in Paint Twp., Somerset Co., Pa. Geographical notes. Pittsburg is in Allegheny Co. Lancaster Co. created in 1728. From it came York Co. in 1748, Cumberland Co. in 1750, and part of Berks Co. in 1751. Indiana Co. created in 1803; Somerset Co. created in 1795 from part of Bedford Co; in 1804 Cambria was formed from it. Johnstown now is in Cambria Co. as is Scalp Level, Conemaugh, and Stoney Creek. Rummel, Paint, and Windber, and also Foustwell, Shade, Quemahonig, Kantner, and Davidville are in upper part of Somerset Co. County seats: Somerset, S. Co.; Indiana, Ind. Co.; York, Y. Co. Another record indicates J. E. Faust md. in Cambria Co., Pa. He was permanent Deacon in Church of The Brethren. Father of Dr. Alvin G. Faust.

Md..Maude JOHNS. He was son of Deacon Jacob E. and Fannie (Berkebile) FAUST. Born and reared in Paoint Twp. He attended local noral schools, was graduated from Juniata College, attended Bethany Bible School, and was granted a State Permanent Certificate in 1906. MA and Ph. D. degrees from U. of Pittsburg. Beg. teaching career at age 16, and taught most of life. Editor of History of (German) Reformed Church. Lived and passed away (?) in Pittsburg, Pa. Activities in Reformed Church. Taught in High School in Pittsburg, retiring in July 1951. Taught evening classes in Veteran Education Program of Pittsburg. Was elected to ministry November 24, 1904, installed March 25, 1905, advanced April 7, 1908, and ordained as elder in July 1921. Inate musical ability, trained at Bethany and Juniata, taught church music and singing classes. Served districted on Welfare Board any on executive board of Sunday School Association. When district elected a Historical Committee to compile this district history, Dr. Faust was chosen as assistant editor. U. of Pitt, 1942 Ph. D. dissertation Cultural Patterns and Social Adjustment in the Church of the Brethren with Special Reference to an Allegheny Tableland Community. Born at Farm In, Paint Twp.
