                   Gary Harding: "Grace Smith Glessner said that Elmer's sister Blanche had introduced her to Elmer at the July 4th 1909 picnic at Fairhope.  At the time, Elmer had been working in Virginia & travelled there by train from Fairhope.  He wrote to Grace and invited her to go to the County Fair at Meyersdale in September, when he returned home. Elmer later returned to Berlin to work at Bill Deeter's sawmill.  Elmer & Grace travelled by train to Cumberland, Maryland where they were married April 4, 1911.  They were married 75 years, 10 months."
