Florence Hay, his daughter-in-law, advised in July 1990 that "in his early years he was a journeyman carpenter then owned and operated his own business manufacturing California tops for touring cars, prior to the advent of closed cars. In 1947 he joined Raymond in operating the Rehco Corp. until his retirement."
