Myron joined the army in 1914.  Because he lied about his age when he enlisted he had his birthday legally changed to January 12, 1893, when he retired so that his army discharge records would match his social security records for retirement pay.  As a result the book, Tolles In America, is incorrect about his birth date.  He was actually born February 13, 1893. I am his granddaughter and I have the original documents given to me by my parents prior to their deaths.  Carrol Martin...Feb 04, 2000

Lawrence ran away from home like his brothers at a very young age.  (Because of the cruel beatings received at the hands of their father.)
At twelve years old he arrived in the city of Petosky all alone.  He was employed for 41 years at the Michigan Tanning and Extract Co., plant at Kegomic, Michigan.  Most of those years were spent as a bookkeeper and store operator.   He also worked at "The Hub" for 5 years prior to his retirement.  He served in France during World War I with the U.S. Army and was an active member of the V.F.W. Post 2051.
