William Gale Slayman, Indian Springs, died at 6:30 o'clock this morning
at his home, aged 58 years.  He was born in Warfordsburg, Pa., a son of
Lincoln and Dorcas Decker Slayman, and was a member of the Brotherhood of
Railroad Trainmen and the Western Maryland Relief.  Surviving are his
wife, Nellie M. Miller Slayman; son, William R. and Donald R. Slayman,
both of Nashville, Tenn; daughter, Mrs. Vida S. Helser, Hancock; sisters,
Mrs. C. M. Austin, Chambersburg; Mrs. David Trumpower, Mrs. David
Kershnery and Mrs. J. S. Kerns, all of Clear Spring; brothers, Perry,
this city; Clarence, Harpers Ferry, and Wilbur Slayman, Brunswick, Eight
grandchildren also survive.  The body was removed to the Rowland Funeral
Home in Clear Spring where friends may call Thursday and Friday
evenings.  Funeral at Rowland Funeral Home Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev.
J. Wade Huffman officiating.  Burial in St. Paul's Cemetery.

BIG POOL-Nellie Minerva Slayman, 88, formerly of Route 1, died Monday,
Jan. 27, at Reeder's Memorial Home, Boonsboro. Born in Millstone, Md.,
she was the daughter of the late O. Robert and Susie J. Stump Miller. Her
husband, W. Gale Slayman, died in 1956. She was employed by the
Washington County Board of Education as a cafeteria worker at Clear
Spring High School. She was a member of the AARP. She is survived by one
daughter, V. Faye Helser of Hagerstown; two sons, William R. Slayman of
Carthage, Tenn., and Donald R. Slayman of Madison, Tenn.; one sister,
Daisy Jacobs of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren;
and seven great-great-grandchildren. Services and burial will be at the
convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. Memorial donations
may be made to the Clear Spring Ambulance Service. Arrangements are being
handled by the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
