C. M. Austin, 152 S. Second St., Chambersburg, died Wednesday at 11:00
a.m. at the Chambersburg Hospital. He had been in failing health for
several months, serious for the past ten days. Born in Martinsburg, W.
Va., he was the son of the late Thomas G. and Josephine (Demeraux)
Austin, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. He
was employed as a grocer. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Blanche S.
(Layman) Austin; children, Mrs. J. P. Jones, Nashville, Tenn; Mrs. R. L.
Carnochan, Baltimore; and Leon Austin of Chambersburg; brother, Benjamin
F., Grasonville, Md. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
also survive. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.,
at the Barbour Funeral Home, the Rev. Clarence A. Neal officiating.
Interment will be made in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg. Viewing will be
one hour prior to services.

Blanche Austin, 96, a resident of the Shook Home and formerly of 153 S.
Second St., died Tuesday at the Home.  Born in Clear Spring, she was the
daughter of the late Abraham and Darcus Dickens Slayman.  Her husabnd,
Carl M. Austin, died in 1966.  She was a member of the Second Lutheran
Church in Chambersburg.  She is survived be one daughter, Lucille Jones
of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, Leon Austin of Chambersburg; one brother,
Wilbur Slayman of Sharpsburg; seven grandchildren; nine great
grandchildren and two great great grandchilren.  Services will be held at
11:30 a.m. Friday at the Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home in Chambersburg.
The Rev. Keith H. Eslinger will officiate.  Burial will be in the Lincoln
Cemetery.  There will be no viewing.  Memorial donations may be made to
the Shook Home, 55 S. Second St., Chambersburg.

He played semipro baseball in Hagerstown area.  He also played tennis and
soccer.  He is survived by his wife, Rachael M. Harbaugh Austin; two
daughters, Janet Reasner of Chambersburg and Joyce Crider of Loysville,
Pa; two sons, Dennis R. Austin of Littlestown, Pa., and Gary D. Austin of
Alexandria, Va.; one sister, Lucille Jones of Nashville, Tenn.; six
grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.  Services will be held at 2
p.m. Friday at the Park-Geisel Funeral Home in Chambersburg.  The Rev.
Michael Witmer will officiate.  Burial will be in the Norland Cemetery in
Chambersburg.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one
hour prior to the service.
