Ephraim, Noble Co., Ohio August 22, 1862 in Company H of the 116 Regiment of Ohio Volunteers. He was honorably discharged at Richmond, Virginia on June 14, 1865. He was captured and taken prisoner at Winchester, Virginia June 15, 1863 and confined at Richmond, Virginia June 23 and 24, 1863. He was paroled at City Point, Virginia July 8, 1863; reported at College Green Barracks, MD July 9, 1863, where he arrived same day. Reported at Camp Chase, O, Sept. 7, 1863 and sent to regiment between Oct. 20 and 31, 1863. "While serving in Co. H 116 Reg't Ohio Inf. he was disable by Malaria & chronic diarrhea contracted at Romney, W. VA (no date) also left ingunial hernia & injury to left testicle contracted near Lynchburg, VA, 1863, while in the Service." Pension papers. At age 32, Michael was described in military papers as: Height 5 ft., 10 in. Complexion dark; eyes grey; hair black. At age 58, Michael was described in the "Declaration for Invalid Army Pension" as: Height 5 ft., 11 inches; complexion dark; hair dark; eyes blue.
He married Rachel M. Skinner 14 Dec 1826 at Ohio . Rachel M. Skinner was born at Ohio 18 Dec 1806 daughter of Nathaniel Skinner and Hannah King .
