There is a Stone Memorial at Oak Grove Church just inside the gate of OakGrove Cemetery. It reads:
1896 Oak Grove Church 1963. A church built by the pioneers across theroad in the wilderness, to
worship God and allay the fears, Ask his blessing and sins confess.They passed the torch from hand to hand, from generation to generation,then here await the promised land and lifes eternal graduation. By:Marvin H. Coder. That is where alot of the descendants are buried. Ref.d/cer. Obit; Survivors include two sons, John of Blue Grass Iowa, andJames of Letts, 5 g/children, one brother Melvin of Wilton, and onesister Mrs. George (Opal) Amos of Muscatine. He was preceded in death byhis wife, one daughter, one g/daughter, one brother, and a sister.Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery near Cranston Iowa.

Notes from her obit: She was the daughter of Delazon and Ruth (Hewitt)Smith. She has lived in this
community the past 38 years. She was a member of the Letts UnitedMethodist Church and a former
member of the Oak Grove Church, past matron of Eastern Star and a memberof the Cedar Grange and
State Grange. Surviving are her husband, 2 sons, John of Davenport Iowa,and James of Letts Iowa, 5 grandchildren, 2 brothers Roscoe of BuckeyeArizona, and Herbert of Cincinnati Ohio, 2 sisters Mrs. Forrest (Bessie)Hanshaw of Douds Iowa, and Mrs. Melvin (Florence) Coder of Wilton. Shewas preceded in death by her parents, a daughter and a grand daughter.Florence Smith Coder was her sister and they married brothers. Burialwill be at Oak Grove cemetery.
