Ref; obit; She was born in York County Pennsylvania. We have no datefor her move to Somerset County, Pennsylvania, but her 2 daughters by Mr.Fitzgerald, Mary and Eve were born in Shade Township, Somerset County,Pennsylvania. Following Eve's marriage to John Oaks 7 more children wereborn in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. In 1840 both girls by Mr.Fitzgerald were married to men named Fry and were raising their familiesin Somerset County Pennsylvania. In June of 1843, Eve and John moved their family of seven, the oldest being13 and the youngest 1 to Cedar township of Iowa Territory, where they commenced farming just eastof the Cedar River. The Faust family lived in a area of Shade township called Faustwell. Thefamily ran a mill. She is buried in the Oak Grove cemetery near CranstonIowa.
Notes from obit: Her father's family came to Iowa in 1843. Her lifesince coming to Iowa has been spent in Muscatine County. She leaves herhusband, two brothers, and two half sisters, Mrs. Mary Frye and Eve Gatesto mourn her loss also a host of nieces and nephews and other relativesand friends.
Notes From his obit; He was in active service throughout the Cival War,serving in Company A. of the 11 Iowa regiment. He was active in the local G. A. R. post. He had 5children, and was making his home with his daughter Mrs. L. M. Neyens.Came to Muscatine in 1848. He was the last surviving member of hisfamily. He spent his boyhood in Pennsylvania, coming to Muscatine countyin 1843. Since that time he has resided here almost continuously. Hiswife died on New Year's day in 1925, three children preceded him indeath. The survivors are two daughters Mrs. L. M. Neyens with whom hemade his home with for the past two years, and Mrs. Prior Heldman ofPasadena California, several distant relatives also survive. Burial willbe in Greenwood cemetery beside his wife.
Notes from obit; Jacob Oakes of Prescott Kansas, formerly of Muscatine,who had been visiting his brother, Jesse Oakes at Lowe Run, passed awaylast evening after a few days illness. Palpitation of the heart andBrights disease were given as the cause of his death. He had justreturned from a trip to Oklahoma, and was spending a few weeks here, whenhe took ill. It was thought he was recovering nicely and his sonPhillip, who was with him, left for Prescott, expecting his father tofollow in a few days. Mr. Oakes became worse yesterday, and died lastnight. The body will be taken to Eagleville Missouri, for intermentbeside his wife, who preceded him in death three years ago. Jacob Oakeswas born in Somerset Pennsylvania, in 1836, being 71 at the time of hisdeath. He came to Iowa and settled in 76 township in 1843. Along in1885 he removed with his family to Missouri, and later to Kansas.Besides his brother Jesse of this County he leaves two sons and onedaughter, Philip of Fulton, Lellyette of Eagleville Missouri, and Effieof Eagleville Missouri.
He married Eva Faust Abt 1825 . Eva Faust was born at York, Pa, Usa 25 Dec 1795 daughter of Balthaser (Balser) Faust, Rev War Vet and Eva Fishel .
