Jacob OAKS

                   Notes from obit; Jacob Oakes of Prescott Kansas, formerly of Muscatine,who had been visiting his brother, Jesse Oakes at Lowe Run, passed awaylast evening after a few days illness.  Palpitation of the heart andBrights disease were given as the cause of his death.  He had justreturned from a trip to Oklahoma, and was spending a few weeks here, whenhe took ill.  It was thought he was recovering nicely and his sonPhillip, who was with him, left for Prescott, expecting his father tofollow in a few days.  Mr. Oakes became worse yesterday, and died lastnight.  The body will be taken to Eagleville Missouri, for intermentbeside his wife, who preceded him in death three years ago.  Jacob Oakeswas born in Somerset Pennsylvania, in 1836, being 71 at the time of hisdeath.  He came to Iowa and settled in 76 township in 1843.  Along in1885 he removed with his family to Missouri, and later to Kansas.Besides his brother Jesse of this County he leaves two sons and onedaughter, Philip of Fulton, Lellyette of Eagleville Missouri, and Effieof Eagleville Missouri.
