Jesse OAKS

                   Notes From his obit;  He was in active service throughout the Cival War,serving in Company A. of the 11
Iowa regiment.  He was active in the local G. A. R. post.  He had 5children, and was making his home with his daughter Mrs. L. M. Neyens.Came to Muscatine in 1848.  He was the last surviving member of hisfamily.  He spent his boyhood in Pennsylvania, coming to Muscatine countyin 1843.  Since that time he has resided here almost continuously.  Hiswife died on New Year's day in 1925, three children preceded him indeath.  The survivors are two daughters Mrs. L. M. Neyens with whom hemade his home with for the past two years, and Mrs. Prior Heldman ofPasadena California, several distant relatives also survive.  Burial willbe in Greenwood cemetery beside his wife.
