Aristarchus CONE

                   Ref; Obit.  He was the son of Newell and Ann Cone.  No children were bornto them but they have an
adopted son William Hunter.  Ref; Biographical Sketches of MuscatineCounty Iowa page 660 as follows.
He left home in 1834, passed some time in Pennsylvania and Ohio: came toMuscatine County, in 1837 and immediately located where he now lives (sec24; P. O. Letts) and has lived there 42 years.  He married October. 7,1851, Harriet Oaks, a native of Somerset County, Pennsylvania: Herparents settled in Muscatine County about 1845.  His parents, Newell, andAnne Cone, had five children, Albert S., William E., Addison,Aristarchus, and Julius: William and Addison reside in Connecticut, theothers are deceased.  His father died April 19 1856, his mother died June9, 1860, Mr. Cone is County Supervisor; has served seven years; was Clerkof the first election held in what was known as Storm's Precinct, whichembraced about one third of Muscatine County, at this election in August1839, only nine votes were polled, and five of these by the Judges andClerks of Election; and in the words of Mr. Cone, " there was a full votepolled " he was Recorder Of Claims for Storm's Precinct from 1837 tillthe land came into market, which was about 1842.  Mr. Cone owns 475 acresof land in Cedar Township, and tracks of land in Missouri, and Kansas.
