Notes:
Josiah King McIntire was orphaned at about a year and a half.

Guardianship Papers were granted to Josiah King, his maternal grandfather

by the Orphan's Court of Fayette County Pennsylvania in June 1875 File #

47. He was known as "Jay" to everyone. He was a livery stable owner at

one time and then became a full time farmer. He served as school

director many years and in 1922 he was President of Perry Township School

Directors. He was a Republican and a Methodist. "Jay" was my (Betty

Mcintire) paternal grandfather and I've many pleasant memories of him

singing hymns as he went about his work and even as we walked the fields

and roads around Perryopolis, where my love of history took roots. We

visited many historic sights, many times there was only rubble-but he

brought it to life for me. Washington's Mill, the old brick yard, and a

Quaker Church, an old stone house, the Fuller home are just a few that I

remember.
