Charles David TROXEL
Widowed young and then had 14 children with Phebe. Traveled from Missouri to Nebraska in a covered wagon, homesteaded a quarter section of land along the west border of Hayes Co. Lived on and improved the land 5 years and sold to John Terry, and bought a quarter section 1 1/2 miles south, just over the line in Chase County. Filed a tree claim of 160 acres in the hills west of there and purchased in 1896-sold in 1907. The Old Elmer Church in Hayes Co. was purchased by (Charles) Orley Troxel for the purpose of keeping up the cemetery behind, where so many relatives are buried.
