EMMA MAY HOMER, our beloved sister aunt and friend passed away on July 24, 2000 at the age of 92. Emma May was born September 15, 1907 in Chicago, Illinois to Frederick Nathaniel Copeland and Lilian Burcky Copeland. She married Russell Harry Homer on June 3, 1939 in Spiceland,Indiana and lived in San Gabriel, California until August 1989 when she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to be near family members. Emma May became a loyal and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 2, 1970. Emma May loved sports and physical activity, worked as a high school teacher and librarian and inspired many students with her love of literature and poetry. Emma May was an artist with the written word and shared her gift with her family and friends. She represents a true example of joy, gratitude, and love for her Heavenly Father to her many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews who respect and love her. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Dorothy Homer; Janie and Leon Heaps, Russ and Elaine Homer, Linda and Tom Alder, Don and Marjann Homer, and Janet and Phillip Solomon; and many grand-nieces and nephews. Emma May's family is grateful to the members of the Millcreek 2nd Ward, Salt Lake City and the Las Flores Ward, Temple City, California for their friendship, love and support to Emma May. They are also grateful to the staff of the Woodland Park Care Center, Salt Lake City for their sensitive and capable care during her last days. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2000 at the Millcreek 2nd Ward, 4220 South Jeannine Drive, Salt Lake City. Friends may call 10-11:00 a.m. at the ward. Friends are also invited to a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2000, at the Rose Hills Memorial Park Hillside Gardens, 3900 So. Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, California.
