Josiah ROGERSON
Mrs. Ann Wignall Rogerson, wife of Josiah Rogerson, old time resident of Utah, died at the home, 653 Second West Street, Thursday, February 26, of Pneumonia, superinduced by influenza, at the age of 75 years and 10 months. Deceased was born at Preston, Lancashire, England, April 13, 1844, and was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1863. She crossed the Atlantic ocean in a sailing vessel, The 'General McCleland' with some 800 other members of the church, from Liverpool to Philadelphia, in April or May, 1864, and made the trip from Philadelphia to Omaha by rail. From Omaha she walked across the plains to Salt Lake City as member Capt. William S. Warren's ox-team train, arriving here in time for the October Conference, 1864. She was married Jan. 26, 1865, to Josiah Rogerson, at Chicken Creek, Juab County, Utah, and in April of the same year joined her husband in Parowan, Iron county, Utah, where she lived for the next ten years, then resided in Beaver City for twenty-eight years and in Salt Lake City for the last seventeen years. Mrs. Rogerson was a faithful Latter-day Saint, the mother of ten children, seven of whom survive her. There are 21 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Percy Silver's undertaking chapel. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
