Started Ellen J.'s record from the marriage registration of her son, Albert Augustus Carleton.
Albert Augustus Carleton declared that he was a conductor at the time of his marriage in 1886. When his son Albert Warren Carleton was born in 1895, he declared he was a restaurant proprietor. Albert Augustus Carleton's birth registration shows his last name spelled without the 'e'. The letter is present on his marriage registration and thereafter. Albert Augustus Carleton's marriage registration says he was born in Peabody, as does his son Albert Warren Carleton's birth registration. He was really born in South Danvers per the Massachussetts Birth Registration. While visiting Danvers, Massachussetts, in April, 2001, the gentleman in charge of the city Archive located in the Peabody Institute Library informed me that prior to its becoming Peabody, that area was known as South Danvers. There appears a "Albert A. Carlton, 1881" in the list of members of Salem Light Infantry. This list appears on page 267 of volume 26 of "Historical Collections of the ESSEX INSTITUTE", Salem, Mass. 1889, printed by The Salem Press Publishing and Printing Company, 1891.
