He served as a County Surveyer of Loudon County one term, after which hewas elected trustee of Loudon County for two two-year terms.  Beingprogressive in all his ideas, e felt a need for a newspaper in LoudonCounty.  Therefore he founded the Loudon County Record at Loudon, TN. andwas it's editor and publisher for a time.
