Work Experience: Farmed the Adams Farm in Hermitage, Pa., which was part of the original George Hofius homestead, throughout his life.  He was issued a certificate stating that John G. Adams was a Justice of the Peace, dated, December 16,1913; issued from Harrisburg, Pa.  John taught at number 6 school in Hickory Township, Lamonts Corners, from teaching cerfificates for 1888 and 1889 from S.H. McCleery.

John G. Adams and Amelda Hofius were married by Minister Chas. E. Edwards at the Presbyterian Church in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania on 9/6/1893 in accordance with license issued by Clerk of Orphans' Court of Mercer County, Pennsylvania No. 3183 by Clerk H.H. Zeigler.  John was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church in Sharpsville as well as a trustee.

John was a great sharer.  He liked company and loved to entertain.

John died at Buhl Hospital from Lobar Pneumonia in the Flue Epidemic of 1917. He is buried in Morefield Cemetery Section 1 Row 27, Grave Site 3.

His father was also John Adams and his mother was Margaret Aubeny.

Nancy Amelda taught school in the Hickory Township system before her marriage to John G. Adams.  Like her husband she taught at #6 school at Lamonts Corners and Dutch Lane.

Nancy grew out of her mothers shot comings, but it was too late for her to enjoy her family and the good life.  She was a excellent cook.

Nancy Amelda inherited her Uncle Jonathon's farm and lived there until after her husband's death.  This farm became known as the Adams Farm & was bounded by the present streets of Clarksville Road and Hofius Lane in Hermitage, Pa.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sharpsville, Pa.

Amelda as she was normally called was very particular about her dress and always wore long sleeves.  In her later years she felt she didn't have the proper clothes and would not attend her church even though she was quite a religious person.  Amelda was always respected by all of her relatives and friends.

Amelda Hofius and John G. Adams were married by minister Chas E. Edwards of the Presbyterian Church in Sharpsville, Pa., on 9/6/1893 in accodance with license issued by Clerk of Orphans' Court of Mercer County Pennsylvania No. 3183 by Clerk H.H. Zeigler.

                   Occupation: Elementary Teacher.

Education: Grad from Hickory High School, Hermitage, Pa., and then went to Slippery Rock State Normal School, now Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock Pa., and Graduated in 1920 with a Elementary Teaching Degree.

Work Experience: A Grade School Teacher at Farrell, Pa., then mother of three, and when all the children were in high school she went back to teaching grade school as a substitute and then full time at Bessemer, Pa., until she retired with 23 years teaching.

She and her husband belonged to the United Presbyterian, but during their many trips would attend whatever church was nearby.

Hobbies, Organizations, Awards & Etc.: Esther served on Committees and was a Officer in the Garden Club, Eastern Stars,Girl Scout Leader and the Mount Jackson Presbyterian Church, Mt. Jackson, Pa.

Esther was the first to put together the George Hofius Sr., family and found it quite interesting work.

Esther lived a good long life and passed away at the age of 94.
