                   She and her husband William lived on a farm near Monmouth, Illinois.  Soon after William died (1872) Mary and three of the children moved to Old Oxford near New Windson, Illinois.  It is felt the three children were Cora, Mina and Lavina.  She later took Mina, Milo and Lucille out to California.

In the 1870 Census for Mercer Co., Preemption Twp., , Illinois her famiy was lsited as Mary age 30, husband William L. age 29, Cora E age 8, Frmima (Mina) age 5 and Joseph age 2.  In the 1880 Census for Henry Co., Osford Twp., Illinois listed Mary age 40, head, Cora age 17, Emmina (mIna) age 14 and Lovina age 8.  In the 1900 Census for Algona Twp., Kossuth Co., Clgona City, Illinois listed Mary age 60, morhte in law Mina Morford age 34, lving with Cora and Henry H. Hudson.

                   She came to Kossuth  Co., Iowa from Mercer Co., Illinois in 1881 to visit her aunt Mrs. W. Fletcher Hofius.  While there she secured employment in the schools and beacme acquainted with her husband to be Mr. Hudson also a teacher.  Three years after their marriage in 1885 they moved to Algona, Iowa.
