Tombstone in Mount Moriah Cem. near douds, Van Buren County, Iowa says "Mary a. Wife of David carson, also wife of Eli Baldwin d 28 apr 1858, age 65 years and 3 days. Handwritten margin note in copy of History of Jefferson Co., Iowa (pub. 1912), vol II page 66 says "Emeline M. dau of David and polly simmons-Carson. Grandmother Carson and death of grandfather m. Eli Baldwin" Reason for this note is because no other previous evidence of "Polly" Simmons. Records by Laurel L. Posey show birth as 25 Apr 1792 either in Maryland of Virginia, but gravemarker shows it should be 25 Apr 1793. They also show herparents names as well as their children 1830 census Smith, belmont, Ohio has 8 kids listed. 1850 census Hardy Co., VA
