In 1998 I (Ellis Charles Rail) found the following information that came from
the Maine Genealogical Records held by the DAR Library in Washington, D.C..
"Journal of Rev. Jacob Bailey, Missionary at Pownalborough, Maine . . .
1776... 6 Feb Married Moses Dudley and Apphia Sleeper ..."

This date appears to be more consistent with the birth of the first born son,
Peter Dudley, who was born 22 January 1777.
