Nathan CARVER
Source: Same as Leonard Dwight Carver. Nathan was of Livermore, Androscoggin County, Maine. Nathan's parents emigrated to Livermore from Sudbury, Mass in 1779. Ancestry traces to William Carver of Marshfield, Mass., who lived to the advanced age of 104 years. Death date derived from tombstone inscription at Wyman's Cemetery, Livermore, Maine. "Carver, Nathan, d. July 14, 1852, a.77." Possible daughter to be researched from same cemetery: "Carver, Nancy M., d. June 16, 1859, a. 50." Age would place her as possible child of Nathan and Hannah. "The Carver Family of New England: Robert Carver of Marshfield and his Descendants." by Clifford N. Carver, 1935, which references Marshfield and Plymouth Vital Records. Page 80. Fixes Nathan's birth date as 4 Aug 1775; Also says "m. Hannah Matthews of Warren, ME. Six children."

Information obtained from death record of Edward Kent Carver from record of Deaths, Volume II, page 2, of the town of Glenburn, Maine. Marriage Data provided by note on my letter to Town Clerk of Lagrange, Maine, showing marriage intentions filed between Cyrus Carver and Mary Waterhouse on September 12, 1835. Clerk also had the following comment: "Records prior to 1892, when it became a law to record vital statistics, are very erratic and sometimes nonexistent. None of the early records are indexed so it took considerable searching to find the above information". A note from the Town Clerk at Lagrange in response to a separate letter says: "Found a family record of Cyrus and Mary Carver in which it said: John H. Carver was born Aug 27th 1849. Charles W. Carver was born Nov. 10th 1851. Record made 25 day of June 1858." Birth date approximated from death date and age given on tombstone at LaGrange Village Cemetery, LaGrange, Maine. "CARVER, Cyrus, d.
